iOS and Mac OS X generate 3 times more profit than Windows

As long as Apple and Mac OS X exist, there will be comparisons with Microsoft and Windows OS. This time the comparison is limited to the profits recorded by the 2 companies in the last financial quarter of 2011. Those from Asymco they made a comparison of the profit generated by iOS and Mac OS X vs Microsoft's Windows. The conclusion was that Apple recorded 3 times more profit with iOS and Mac OS X than Windows with Microsoft. We are not talking about revenues, where things are different, but about profit itself, where Apple currently dominates categorically.

"While a lot of the credit for Apple's success is rightfully assigned to the iOS franchises, the OS X business has more than quadrupled in five years. This has happened without drastic price fluctuations. Neither holds for the overall PC industry which has seen both volume and sales decline while prices have eroded along with profitability. On top of that, growth has nearly evaporated."

The 2 operating systems add up to 95% of the profit recorded by Apple in the last financial quarter, but if we are to divide the figures, then iOS gets 75% of the total profit and Mac only 20%. Microsoft, on the other hand, recorded revenues of 4.5 billion dollars from Windows, but 2.8 billion dollars covers operational expenses, so we only have 1.7 billion profit. To be honest, I think that in the future the difference between the 2 companies will increase significantly in favor of Apple, if Microsoft fails to launch some new products related to Windows OS.
