Apple is testing MacBook Air models with ARM A5 processors

A few weeks ago I will tell you a rather strange rumor at the time, specifically it was about testing some MacBook Air models with ARM processors. At that time, it was not said about which model it was, but there was information appeared today reveals the fact that Apple is testing MacBook Airs with A5 processors. A5 is the processor used by Apple in the iPad 2 and more than likely in the iPhone 5, iPod Touch 5G and the future model of Apple TV. The problem with these processors lies in the fact that they have poorer performance than the Intel models in the current MacBook Air series, but the advantage is the reduced energy consumption.

And additionally, an anonymous source told more information, Apple already made test equipment of Thunderbolt MacBook Air driven by A5 processor.

According to this source who actually saw live A5 MacBook Air, this test machine performed better than expected.

If Apple chooses to implement processors for mobile terminals in the MacBook Air, then it is certainly "hunting" for a significant increase in battery autonomy. In order to maintain the performance at a high level, another model of processors with higher frequencies would be needed and of course another architecture that would bring performances similar to those of Intel processors. I for one don't think that a MacBook Air with an ARM processor will hit the market in the near future, but it seems that Apple is testing the combination. The information presented comes from a Japanese blog who in the past provided correct information about the iPad 2 and not only, so it is quite clear that Apple is testing something like this.
