Samsung gives up one of the lawsuits filed against Apple

In April, Apple sued Samsung, accusing it of infringing Apple's patents in the development of certain products from the Galaxy S series and more. Samsung he answered by filing another lawsuit accusing Apple of copying certain Samsung products when it made its iDevices. Apple asked a court for access to the prototypes of several Galaxy S Series products, Samsung did the same and now Samsung has decided to drop the lawsuits against Apple. On June 30, Samsung withdrew from the roll of American installations several lawsuits that it filed against Apple in these months, but the company will continue to defend itself in the lawsuits filed by Apple.

Samsung Electronics Co. dropped a patent-infringement suit against Apple Inc. (AAPL), filed at a US federal court in April in response to allegations that its Galaxy products copied the iPhone and iPad.

Samsung Electronics dropped the suit on June 30 "to streamline the legal proceedings," Nam Ki Yung, a spokesperson for the Suwon, South Korea-based company, said today in a telephone interview. Samsung will continue to defend its patent rights through a counter-claim in an earlier suit Apple filed at the same court in San Jose, California, he said.

Samsung withdrew only one price that it had filed in the USA, the others from South Korea, Japan, Germany or Great Britain are pending before the courts and the 2 companies will have many appearances in which they will have to support their requests. Samsung chose to give up the lawsuit in the US in order to postpone the trial of an older lawsuit filed against Apple, also for the infringement of some patents, so in the end the company did not give up something important. The 2 companies, although partners, are being sued in several countries and probably everything will end with an agreement and a very large amount of money paid by one of them.
