Could Apple build a 55-inch OLED TV?

After the line of iDevices and Apple Macs it could build and a television for the whole family. An Australian company claims that Apple would be interested in buying 55-inch OLED screens from LG for a new range of televisions. It's not the first time we hear about such rumors and it certainly won't be the last, but at the moment a TV would be the last thing I would expect from Apple. Although the company has an Apple TV that allows users to watch movies on TVs using an iDevice, a Mac, or an Internet connection as the source for content, I don't see why Apple would release a TV.

There is also speculation that Apple has held discussions with LG Display the Company that makes display screens for MAC products, about the possibility of getting access to a new 55 LG OLED panel that will be used in a new Apple TV that will be capable of delivering music, Video & TV shows over an IP network.

On Friday LG said that they will launch a limited production OLED TV late in 2012.

I have to admit that the product in the image above looks very good, but it seems that among iPhones, Macs and iPad tablets it doesn't really have what to look for. There will certainly be buyers for a "revolutionary" television produced by Apple, but I imagine it will not be cheap and sales will certainly be far below expectations, and a television released even in 2012 would not make much sense.
