Apple interested in building products from carbon fiber or glass fiber

This year, the Apple company has been registered a lot of patents for various technologies and those from AppleInsider they discovered a new one that shows the intentions of the Cupertino company to build a device that will have a carbon fiber or glass fiber casing. Apple has devised a design that involves casting several layers of carbon fiber to form a case for MacBooks or iDevices, a case that is very impact-resistant but a case that can be colored according to user preferences.

The application notes that carbon fiber composites offer many benefits, as they can serve as a strong, lightweight housing for electronic equipment. But carbon fiber composites are also typically black, and the fibers themselves are usually visible on the surface of the device. Additionally, Apple said the fibers of such material are usually variable in construction, offering a varied appearance on the surface. As a result, carbon fiber can feature cosmetic imperfections that would reduce the aesthetic appearance of a device.

Carbon fiber cases are much lighter than the aluminum ones used in current MacBooks and would provide a huge advantage for Apple's product line. For years it has been rumored that Apple could make the switch to carbon fiber cases, and offering variously colored MacBooks would certainly attract many more users. My opinion is that such technology is still far from being implemented in MacBooks or iDevices, Apple preferring to use materials that are more resistant and pleasant to the touch/visually.
