iOS 5 – jailbreak solutions, unlock solutions

Last night I was telling you that the Chronic Dev team is working intensively on the development of an untethered jailbreak solution for iOS 5, and this made me much more confident about the future of jailbreaking for iDevices. The Chronic Dev Team is working on an untethered jailbreak solution both for current devices and for the iPad 2/iPhone 5, although for the latter we still do not have a bootrom exploit that would allow us to at least do a tethered jailbreak regardless of which version of iOS we have installed on they.

For starters, I think we will be able to do tethered jailbreak for iOS 5 right from the day of release, and we will have an untethered jailbreak solution a few days/weeks later. Of course, I'm only referring to old devices and not to iPad 2, because for old terminals there is untethered jailbreak through limera1n and for iPad 2 we have absolutely nothing for now. For the iPhone 5, a jailbreak solution will be available a few weeks after the release of the device, because the teams must first take possession of the terminal and only then can they check a way by which the operating system can be exploited.

Regarding the unlock, there is a possibility that an unlock solution for the iPhone 3GS/4 will be released on the day of the publication of iOS 5 in iTunes. The Dev Team has been working on it for almost a year and it could bring us a joy similar to that of last year when they released the unlock solution just a few tens of minutes after the publication of iOS 4. For iPhone 5 things will be completely different and not it is known if an unlock solution for this terminal will be published. If a vulnerability is discovered in the baseband of the terminal, then it will take at least a month until the publication of an unlock solution, but I recommend that you stay away from coded iPhone 5 terminals because it is not known when you will be able to use them in Romania.

Having said that, for jailbreak the future "sounds good" and we know absolutely nothing about unlocking.
