Intel's new Ivy Bridge processors could bring Retina Display to Macs

Lately there has been talk about the implementation of retina screens in Macs, but the big problem was the hardware to support resolutions of over 4000 pixels. Well Intel comes with a solution for this problem by launching the Ivy Bridge platform which is able to support resolutions up to 4096 x 2304 pixels without problems. Ivy Bridge is the platform on which Intel will launch the next generation of processors and the graphics chip integrated in the new platform is capable of supporting resolutions of over 4000 pixels, although for now monitors with such resolutions are rare and expensive.

Even so, Intel intends to launch the new platform next year and it will bring a 60% performance increase compared to the current Sandy Bridge platform, and of course Apple could implement the Ivy Bridge platform in Macs before the official launch. If Apple had access to this technology, retina screens in Macs could arrive very quickly, the only big problem remaining the reduction of screen production costs, a very important obstacle that screen manufacturers have not been able to overcome.

In conclusion, Intel is preparing important things, it remains to be seen if it will have the necessary support.
