The initial stock of iPhone 5 terminals could be reduced due to a defect in the production process

Last weeks we were told that Foxconn produces approximately 150.000 iPhone 5 terminals per day for Apple, a credible figure given that the Asian company would have sufficient stocks of components for production. Since then and until now that figure would have decreased due to a defect appeared in the manufacturing process of the touch panels supplied by Wintek to Foxconn. Wintek is one of Apple's most important partners and would have received an order for several million touch panels intended for iPhone 5 terminals, but it seems that from the beginning there were problems on the production line.

A defect has been presented in some iPhone 5 touch panels produced by Wintek which may affect the ability to meet initial shipment targets for the launch which is expected in October, according to iPhone supply chain makers. In response, Wintek simply indicated that all of its products are being delivered on schedule. The defect, "delayed bubble", is difficult to avoid during panel production, particularly when the defect is not detected during the process of laminating touch panels, and only later found during assembly, the sources said. Since the manufacturing process of touch panels used in iPhone 5 is of the same as that for iPhone 4, Wintek is expected to remedy the defect quickly, the sources indicated.

The problem with the defect that appeared in the production process of the new terminal lies in the fact that it was only discovered during the assembly phase of the screens, so quite late, but theoretically those from Wintek should solve the problems quite quickly. Until one more time, it seems that Apple might have problems satisfying the demand on the market, but this is no longer a novelty considering that starting with the iPad tablet, every important iDevice was hard to find in the first months after its launch. If you intend to purchase an iPhone at launch, I advise you to arm yourself with patience because it will be quite difficult to find.
