BootStratp solar portable kit – the portable solar charger for your devices

Recently, more and more accessories have started appearing that promise to charge our iDevices using solar energy. BootStratp solar portable kit is one of these and we have highlighted it in the image above and with its help we can use solar energy to charge any kind of device that uses a USB cable for charging. The accessory is also equipped with a battery that is capable of charging an iPhone 4-5 times or an iPad tablet with up to 70% capacity, so we are talking about an energy storage capacity of approximately 5000 mAh.

Here are the main features of the BootStratp solar portable kit:

  • 5W monocrystalline solar panel (optionally 10W), with a compact stand
  • 6Ah/22Wh Lithium Polymer internal battery. That's enough capacity to recharge an iPhone 4-5 times, and recharge an iPad about 70%.
  • Two USB ports with up to 1.5A output (one port configured for Apple devices, with output up to 1000mA).
  • Charge controller circuit that can charge the internal battery in as little as 6 hours, *while* also charging an external device, all from clean solar energy!
  • Bamboo enclosure — more sustainable than plastic!
  • Easy assembly (no soldering, just some gluing and screwing... with screws.)
  • Open Source and hackable circuits have extra pads for soldering on your own wires/connectors.

BootStratp solar portable kit is currently a project that is waiting for funding on kickstarter and to help its realization you can make a donation here. Now considering that charging using solar energy is becoming more and more popular, would you be willing to use such accessories to charge your devices?
