One out of 3 iDevices launched in the last 2 years has iOS 5 installed

    Yesterday the Apple company announces that it has sold over 4 million iPhone 4S terminals but also that over 25 million iDevices now have iOS 5 installed and over 20 million users have registered to use the new iCloud system. iPhone 5GS/3, iPod Touch 4G/3G and iPad/iPad 4 are compatible with iOS 2, and over a third of these devices already have iOS 5 installed. The information comes from Techcrunch who took them over from a mobile market analysis firm and to be honest, I am impressed that in less than a week iOS 5 has arrived on so many terminals. Here are the percentages for iOS 5 installed on each individual device:

  • 36% of iPad 2 tablets;
  • 35% of iPhone 4 terminals;
  • 33% of iPad tablets;
  • 27% of iPhone 3GS terminals;
  • 23% of iPod Touch 3rd-gen terminals;
  • 17% of iPod Touch 4th-gen terminals.

    The information does not cover the iPhone 4S terminal, which was sold in over 4 million copies, but the figures provided by the Apple company do. The statistics were obtained by monitoring the Internet traffic made in the last days by iDevices, so in reality the number of those who have iOS 5 installed could be higher if the terminal did not access a monitored site.
