sn0wbreeze 2.8 beta 9 available, is compatible with iOS 5 and 5.0.1, solves the problem with iBooks

Last evening iH8sn0w released version 2.8 beta 9 of sn0wbreeze, the only program with which we can make a custom ipsw from Windows. The new version of the program finally brings compatibility with iOS 5, but it also brings compatibility with iOS 5.0.1 beta released yesterday by Apple for application developers. The new version of the program works exactly the same as before, it is not compatible with iPad 2 or iPhone 4S and still does only tethered jailbreak for devices, except iPhone 3GS with old bootrom on which you have untethered jailbreak.

  • Supports iOS 5.0 (9A334)/5.0.1-b1 (9A402)
  • Fixed iBooks sandbox crashing issues.
  • Fixed location services issues with iPhone 3GS users running the iPad baseband.
  • Re-added iPad baseband install option to iPhone 3GS.
  • Removes UDID requirement/Beta timer in 5.0.1.
  • Tethered devices are booted via iBooty which is extracted to the Desktop after running sn0wbreeze.

Unlike other versions, in this one sn0wbreeze solved the problems that led to the impossibility of using the iBooks application, but also to the problems that caused signal loss on iPhone 3GS terminals with baseband iPads when the GPS function was used. The possibility to install an iPad baseband was re-added in this version of sn0wbreeze, but ultrasn0w is not 100% compatible with iOS 5.0.1, so it is not worth the trouble. sn0wbreeze 2.9 beta 8 hacktivates your terminals and removes the limitation that forces you to have the UDID registered in a developer's account to use iOS 5.0.1.
