The iPhone 5 with a 4-inch screen exists, but it is only a prototype

This summer we were "flooded" by rumors indicating that the new iPhone will be called the iPhone 5, it will be thinner, it will have a 4-inch screen, a capacitive button and an aluminum case. In reality, only the iPhone 4S was launched on the market, but the iPhone 5 existed and still exists in the form of a prototype that was tested by certain Apple employees. Those from BusinessInsider now announces that they have information from a person who would have played with the device and it contains all the specifications that appeared in the form of rumors on the Internet.

We've been told this by an industry source who has been right about future Apple products in the past. We have not been able to verify what he told us with a second source. So we're still treating these details as rumours. You should probably still read this post with a nice fat dose of salt.

  • 4-inch screen
  • Aluminum back
  • Capacitive home button
  • "Flatter" form factor
  • Much faster than current hardware, but poor battery life
  • 10MP rear camera
  • Siri prototype known as "Assistant", which had been the rumored name for the feature until its introduction

Considering that many of you have been waiting to see that device released by Apple, you are probably wondering why the company from Cupertino made the decision to release only the iPhone 4S? Well, it seems that Steve Jobs was the man who opposed its launch claiming that the 4-inch screen would lead to a fragmentation of the series of iDevices launched by the Cupertino company. Of course, the information from BusinessInsider could not be confirmed by someone inside Apple, but the existence of such a prototype is extremely possible, and I say this because Apple has also tested iPad tablets with a 7-inch screen and various forms of the case.
