Asus takes the SmartCover concept along with the name

Do you still remember the SmartCover, that case that Apple "invented" for the iPad tablet along with an interesting system for locking/unlocking the tablet using magnets? If so, then look at the awesomeness designed by Asus for the EeePad Transformer Prime tablet. Of course, Apple didn't invent SmartCover, but neither did those from Asus who practically took over the concept from Apple, along with the name, and they did the cover above which, unlike the Apple product, can be folded in a different way but the end result is the same.

I don't know if Apple has a patent on the technology itself, but for the name it probably has a trademark and those from Asus could find themselves with a lawsuit in their hands. The Asus SmartCover it seems interesting, but I for one did not expect to see such a company follow in the footsteps of Samsung. We all know that Samsung steals shamelessly, but now Asus leaves innovation aside and takes the name of a product manufactured by another company and adopts it as its own. It's a shame that such big producers give up on innovation and prefer to steal, but that's it, we'll see more lawsuits.

  1. Do you still remember the article you wrote on March 3 "Where was Apple inspired when it made the smart cover ... as Apple "shamelessly stole" the idea from others ...

  2. Well, the case wasn't called smartcover and you don't know if Apple paid them something or not. Apple certainly did not take money from Asus and Asus was not even able to find a name. That they took over the concept is not a big deal, the problem is that they are not able to take another name.

  3. Everyone "steals" from each other, so I don't think that on this site they will say that apple is the best!

Anyway, if until lion from apple appeared I was also a fan since then I can no longer say good things about apple. Apart from the tablet that gives the class to the other competitors, the other so-called premium products have started to give it a bad start. Just as they boasted that they don't know how many millions bought lion in the first days, so they could "brag" that it is no longer sold because of new problems and innovations, forgetting to leave the facilities of snow leopard.

  4. @nicu … What are u on about?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Lion does not work on PC and old macs do not support the version .... So what are the unseen and unprecedented problems in lion???!!! And the functionality of lion vs snow leopard.... It's seamless... If you mean the server side... An itist never upgrades to the latest software version without backup and testing first.... So?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Off topic: za1 you also have to admit that industrial espionage has existed since the industry existed and the technology is not inferior at all………. Like apple or acer or samsung or intel or whoever you want preiq concepts are not bad at all.... It leads to a "unification" of the design and Intel who wants an ultrabook at $1000.... Well, he doesn't make enough money with Apple's Air and he wants more

  5. Other Asian copycats … bleah!

@Nicu: What don't you like about Lion? That it has everything Snow Leopard has and more.

@Victor: MagSafe? Gestures & Multitouch interface? Slide to unlock? Time Machine? Airdrop? Photostream? Shall I continue? 😛

  6. Wow, how much could they steal, Apple made a laptop that they called a notebook, this is no longer theft, they made a smartphone and called it the pinnacle, also a smartphone, they made monitors and what did they call them, fixed monitors , they made mice and they obviously called them mouse, they made keyboards, how did they call them zaone? Keyboards or not? I'll give more examples, lest someone use the term in the same way that it's bad, theft on the face, listen to the article, we already know that samsung steals shamelessly, ohh god...

  7. Calm down, I'll soon send them an email from Samsung to give you a bonus. I don't see where Apple sells products called Keyboard, mouse, monitor or notebook. It doesn't seem to you that these examples are taken to the extreme. I mean, you're making some unrealistic scenarios just to keep trolling here. Why? I don't see Apple products called transformer, Galaxy or other fantastic names like that.

  8. @erase: Nope, Apple doesn't sell products under generic names, but uses names like MacBook, Magic Mouse, Cinema Display, iPhone, SmartCover, etc. I don't understand what you're doing there...

  9. Please ..
Apple takes the camera from sony..
    processor from Samsung
    Case... but from which company
    The screen from LG
    ...
Can you please tell me from the iPhone that belongs to Apple? nothing is still bought and made by others, please stop saying that Samsung is copying while Apple didn't invent anything.. they just use others to produce their products

  10. You should email the people at Apple, they will definitely give you a bonus, it's true that you don't say anything about Apple, because immediately the chemistry in the brain of the apple lover goes into action, immediately you become a competitor, why don't you write an article to explain to us how apple shamelessly stole a lot of things, like the notification center, and say with all your heart how you say this.
Interesting way of thinking, namely: well, what do we know that Apple didn't pay money to those who made the smart cover, here you immediately apologize, but do you know for sure that Asus didn't do the same thing?, maybe that way, maybe that way apple, etc
You teach us not to be trolls and to comment on the subject, but I have a different fact, what business does Samsung have in this article if you bring it into discussion and make it egg and vinegar?

  11. @Victor: What does this have to do with reality? You speak ONLY to say something bad about Apple, nothing more. Apply the same strategy to your beloved Android companies that DO NOT PRODUCE EVERYTHING. Geez.
@erase: You see that you have exceeded the limit. The rest, everything stolen from Apple can be stolen back, the thief no longer calls thieves because it's already embarrassing. I bring Samsung into the discussion because it even stole presentation images from iOS and put them in the presentation of their products. How smart are the Samsung employees who did this? How smart are the bosses who allowed this? How clever were those who left App Store wallpapers in a Samsung store. Please spare me the Samsung device because they messed up countless times with their copycats.

  12. I wonder if Apple has a patent for "Lion" or "Leopard"! Or would there be any collaboration with the feline family? Do you think they would have paid anything? Zau Zaone, this is not our war! Btw Smartcover is not necessarily a name but can be understood as a noun: smart cover!

  13. @gxg: That's from the well of thought... 😐

@erase: If you're so interested in all of this, go check it out on Apple's website! Or do you think I'm some kind of Siri? 😉

@Victor: There are all sorts of specialist component makers who do Apple's bidding – who makes the show, the puppet or the puppeteer? Who sells your pizza, the chef or the pizzeria? Who cleans, the maid or the sweeper? I think you are confusing the "tool" with the "creator"!

  14. For Mr. Liviu Mica

Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. I've been using apple for some time. If you want, I can give you many examples. Maybe I'm not right, but there are a lot of users who complain about lion.

However, some things related to the lion and not only...

When I put Snow leopard on my macbook pro, I was very pleased with the gestures on the track pad. They modified them on LION, not having the possibility to put them on SNOW.

For years, users have been complaining that Apple does not introduce the possibility of creating a "New text document" like in Windows (you need to install "special" programs for such a thing.

A decent File Manager (apple's Finder is so embarrassing that EVERYONE I know has installed another file manager)

APPLE SERVER ha, ha, YOU HAVE TO BE STUPID TO PAY MONEY FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. You better put a FreeBSD as it is almost the same or not... IT'S FREE.

Stop raising good people in praise of APPLE because it is the best. IS NOT. If they were that good, there wouldn't be sites and forums full of "My apple slow boot" or "my phone is too slow" sa

  15. @Nicu: Dissatisfied users have been around for as long as computers have existed, every hardware or software manufacturer's forums are the same - you have to wear glasses to see only Apple's.

Then, on Lion you have an improved gesture system compared to Snow Leopard (including quantitative), I don't see a problem if we evolve. You can easily create new documents by saving or dragging and dropping fragments on the desktop (there are other methods as well).

I don't know anyone who has problems with the Finder – it does what it's supposed to do, I don't see what bothers you about it.

As for FreeBSD, good luck getting your ears around configuring from the command line what you configure from Mac Server with a few clicks. It's clear that you don't really know what to eat here.

At least for now, Apple's products are the "crème de la crème" in their categories and unargued trolling is absolutely normal, as a natural manifestation of envy...

  16. Good improvements on the lion... but where are the old ones??? The people from apple got it wrong... they did the same with FinalCut. Those who only see APPLE IS THE BEST are limited people.

Those who say it's about envy think that they are actually envious of the rest because the others are much more open to the new.

And for those who say that apple doesn't steal... They even said..."We don't steal, we make it look good"
