Video: Siri finally used as a remote control to control a TV

There was so much talk about the possible launch of a TV by Apple and about the use of the Siri system instead of a normal remote control that one user was motivated to make this a reality. In the video clip above we have a demonstration of how Siri can control a TV through simple voice commands given by the user. Everything is done with the help of a remote control built using the Arduino system and of course with the help of a proxy hack which we talked about repeatedly.

The result is very interesting, the user teaching Siri how to display and what program is running on the station to be opened. I think that such a concept would prove to be extremely attractive for many users, especially since it is extremely simple to control the TV with the phone. The bad part is that all orders are processed quite hard, but the good part is that you have an interesting gadget that you can "brag" about in front of your friends.

  1. brilliant 😐 but how did he do with the commands and what does siri answer you after changing the channel? + what do you do if you lose your phone =))?

  2. It talks nice LOL but I don't think it would be useful, well it's fun but it's easier to change channels with a regular remote control in 2-3 seconds than to talk to the iphone and ask it to change the channel for you or anything else that can be done and with a regular remote control! It's ok, when you have an iPhone to do something like that, but to spend money on a transmitter or other accessories that allow you to do this is throwing money down the window!

  3. Dpmdv It's a fis. Some are upset because it takes two seconds on an LCD/LED/plasma TV to change from one channel to another, but they have to wait in line. Maybe in the future it would be an idea to filter the news and search by topics, movie genres, etc. Then it would be something special, but like that, it seems useless to me.
