Apple will have to give explanations to the authorities in Germany for the use of Carrier IQ

Carrier IQ is a phone monitoring system implemented in many smartphones by mobile phone manufacturers and operators eager to find out how we use our devices. The problem with this system lies in the fact that on Android OS it logs including what the users type plus many other information. Since it was revealed that this Carrier IQ logs almost all our movements on a mobile phone, almost all smartphone manufacturers have been quick to announce that they will no longer use it and that they are now looking for ways to disable it.

Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), announced it says that it no longer uses Carrier IQ in all its products and that it will find a method to remove it completely from iOS, but in the press release it was acknowledged that the system was and is being implemented in iOS. In this idea, the head of the State Authority for data protection in Bavaria he asked those from Apple to explain how Carrier IQ was used in iOS. For now, Apple is the only smartphone manufacturer that has been questioned by the authorities of some countries, and the situation is identical to the one in which the company was when the location logging issue came to light in April of this year.

The Bavarian State Authority for Data Protection sent a letter to Apple today to request information about the software, Thomas Kranig, head of the office, said in an interview. Apple said yesterday that it will stop supporting Carrier IQ software.

To be honest, I think that this whole scandal will end in the same way as the one regarding location logging, that is, the monitoring methods will be removed from the operating systems, later others will be introduced and the users will have nothing to gain.
