Video: ASUS Transformer Prime vs iPad 2 - performance test in games

Two days ago I have presented you with some benchmarks made for the ASUS Transformer Prime and the iPad 2 tablet, benchmarks that showed that the graphics processor in the ASUS tablet is not quite as powerful as the one in the iPad 2. To prove that the ASUS Prime performs just as well like iPad 2 in games from SlashGear they thought of making a comparison between Riptide GP si Shadowgun, two games optimized for both tablets.

In the clip above you have the game Riptide GP running on both tablets and you can see that everything moves without any kind of lag even though there are plenty of graphic elements. Nvidia worked with the developers of Riptide to optimize the game as well as possible for the Tegra 3 platform and what we see is a demo version unavailable in the Android Market but with more graphics than the version for iOS. The test is not really that correct because the tablet from ASUS runs a game in which there are somewhat more complex elements and it would have been useful to see if the iPad 2 performs as well under the same conditions.

The second test is done using the game Shadowgun and apart from the faster loading of the level in the game there is no notable difference between the two tablets. Both have the same graphics, both run the game extremely smoothly and that's good. However, the differences between ASUS Transformer Prime and iPad 2 were obvious at high resolutions and I for one would like to see a test done on a 1080p resolution monitor. If there both tablets run the games equally well, then it is clear that Transformer Prime is a strong opponent for iPad 2.

I remind you that ASUS Transformer Prime is the first Android tablet with a quad-core processor developed by Nvidia and known as Tegra 3.
