iPad 3 could be thicker than iPad 2 but still compatible with Smart Cover

About 4 months separate us from the launch of a new iPad 3 tablet and rumors about how it will look/function are already starting to appear. A Japanese blog says that the future iPad 3 tablet will be thicker than the current generation of the tablet and will be compatible with the Smart Cover accessory. The image above is of an iPad 1 tablet but I guess the Japanese blog is trying to make us understand that the iPad 3 will have a design similar to that of the iPad 1 tablet. I find this hard to believe since Apple is struggling to make iDevices thinner and thinner, but anything is possible.

According to the Asian supplier which provides parts for the next iPad, the next iPad has the same screen size, but the case may be thicker for unknown reasons. Current iPad cases, which cover the backside, will not be compatible with the thicker next iPad. Also the source said, the front rounding corner will be the same as the current iPad, then the Smart Cover will be a good companion with the new iPad.

During the month of December, all kinds of new information will be published about this type of case for the iPad 3 tablet and by March, when the official presentation of the iPad 3 should be, we should find out how the device will look and what functions will have.
