Apple asks the manufacturers of the Steve Jobs figurine to stop selling it

A few days ago I introduced you probably the most real figure made after the face and likeness of Steve Jobs, a figurine that has been extremely sought after by users in recent days. The figure is not yet available in stores, but its producers have registered numerous pre-orders and from February they will start sending the products to users. Apple though seems decided to stop the marketing of the product by threatening the producers with lawsuits if they do not stop the production of the figurine.

The 12-inch figurine, which comes complete with Jobs's trademark blue jeans, sneakers and black turtleneck sweater, was created by the Chinese company In Icons and was set for release in February. But 'their efforts have reportedly met with' a legal challenge with Apple allegedly threatening to sue the toy maker unless they cease trading.

In the past, Apple approached similar situations in exactly the same way, and then the manufacturers of other figurines agreed to remove them from the market, but its manufacturer does not seem willing to do the same. A representative of the company producing the figurine announced that the pressure from Apple will not intimidate them because Apple cannot patent the image of Steve Jobs, so it cannot win a lawsuit in China. Considering that everything takes place in the country where intellectual property is of no interest to anyone, a lawsuit filed by Apple could be useless.

Apple can do anything they like. I will not stop, we already started production...Steve Jobs is not an actor, he's just a celebrity... There is no copyright protection for a normal person... Steve Jobs is not a product... so I don't think Apple has the copyright of him.

In California, the law would have allowed those from Apple to ban the sale of such a product, but in China I don't really see how the company could impose its point of view.
