Motorola sues Apple in Florida, targets iPhone 4S and iCloud

Apple vs. Motorola

Recently in Florida Motorola sued a new process accusing Apple of infringing patents in the development of the iPhone 4S and iCloud. This is the second lawsuit filed by Motorola against iCloud and iPhone 4S, the first being filed in Germany where the company won the opportunity to suspend sales of iDevices but did not make the decision to use it. In this new lawsuit, Motorola claims infringement of no less than 6 patents for: hiding the antenna in a design for mobile phones, a messaging system through a wireless connection, a system for identifying phones that connect to a network , data filtering systems, etc.

According to court documents, Motorola has launched their second patent infringement lawsuit against Apple in Florida. In Motorola's new complaint they claim that Apple is infringing on six additional patents ranging from concealing an external antenna on a cell phone through to a wireless messaging system. Motorola is mainly focusing on Apple's iPhone 4S smartphone and iCloud services as being the product and service infringing on their patents. It's safe to say that Google has given Motorola the green light and their blessing to proceed with this case.

The lawsuit filed by Motorola in Florida is quite important because the patents that the company is trying to defend could be infringed by Apple in the iPhone 4S and iCloud. If a German court ruled in favor of Motorola, a US court could do the same and in this case Apple could be forced to stop importing iPhone 4S terminals in the country where it records the most sales. We will find out how things will be resolved only in a few months when a decision will be made in this process.
