NoSleep helps you keep a MacBook on when you close the lid

Apple's new MacBooks do not now have the option to disable Sleep mode when the lid of the device is closed. Apple disabled the option because of the new design implemented in its Macs, a design that does not allow air to circulate and cool all internal components if the laptop lid is closed. If airflow is not a problem for you and you want to be able to close the top of the Mac without it entering Sleep Mode, then NoSleep is the tweak you need.

Simply download NoSleep from here, you install it and you will see that you have a new icon in the status bar. Clicking on that icon will open a new menu where you check the option Do not fall asleep when the lid is closed and when you close the lid of your Mac it will remain open. I remind you that using a MacBook in clamshell mode (with the lid closed) could cause problems with overheating of the internal components.

  1. Well, there is clamshell mode. With an attached peripheral and an external monitor, press... either a key on the external keyboard, or click a mouse and it starts with the lid closed.

  2. I use Insomnia 1.3.5
It does its job well, but I don't know if it works on Lion (because I don't have it...)
A problem would be the information that closing the cover during operation favors the transmission of heat from the hot components to the screen, and it seems that LCDs are sensitive to heat; this thing is anyway in conflict with the fact that Apple allows closing the cover during operation with an external monitor... so I don't know
I can say that the screen of my Mac is more faded in the middle, but it's battery, I don't think it has anything to do with using it with the lid closed.
