An iPhone is manufactured by hand in 141 steps, the iPad tablet is assembled in 5 days

In the iFactory documentary broadcast last night by ABC News some very interesting information was presented about how iDevices are assembled in Foxconn factories. I already told you that an iPhone is built in a day but according to those from ABC, it takes 141 steps to assemble a terminal and all are manufactured by hand by the company's employees. In the case of the iPad tablet, we are talking about a 5-day manufacturing process in which 325 hands are involved (I assume it is people), so we are talking about a much more complex system than in the case of iPhone terminals.

Foxconn produces 300.000 camera modules for the iPad tablet daily and Foxconn employees earn around $1.78 for each of the 12 hours of daily work, a meal costs them $0.7 and $18 they pay to sleep 6-8 in a room in within the dormitories of Foxconn factory campuses. It is interesting that the audit made by the Fair Labor Association is paid for by Apple, which also paid a fee of $250.000 to join the organization, so it is very possible that even from there we will not learn much about the real life of Foxconn employees.

In conclusion, our iPhones are assembled by hand so each one should be unique.
