UPDATE: Apple Romania lists Vodafone as a partner offering 4G networks for the iPad tablet, it could be launched on March 23

Last night the iPad tablet was presented and Apple mentioned that it includes a baseband chip that allows the product to be used on 4G LTE networks. In Romania, no major operator offers 4G subscriptions for its users, but on the website Apple Romania Vodafone is mentioned as the operator that offers 4G connectivity for the iPad tablet. Orange, the network that will launch a 4G network in Romania next year, is not mentioned in the page dedicated to the iPad tablet, so it seems that Vodafone could be the first operator in Romania to offer the iPad from March 23.

The mention is more than interesting, but the curious thing is that Orange does not appear there.

UPDATE 16: 45: Not only does Vodafone not have an active 4G network in Romania, but the operator does not even have a DC-HSDPA (Dual-Carrier HSDPA) network of 43 Mbps like Orange. Vodafone offers at the moment speeds up to 21.6 Mbps in 16 cities in Romania and Orange offers double speed (in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Timisoara, Constanta and their metropolitan areas) plus 21.6 Mbps in other 550 localities, so if you buy an iPad tablet from Apple you will have a much higher speed with the operator Orange and not with Vodafone. The listing of those from Apple is most likely made only with the idea of promoting the Vodafone Romania network, but unfortunately we are talking about a false advertisement at the moment because the Vodafone operator does not offer 4G internet subscriptions in Romania.

Even though neither Orange nor Vodafone have licenses for 4G networks in Romania, both operators have shown their interest in building such networks as soon as the Romanian government puts the licenses up for auction.
