iPad - operators in Romania that you can use the tablet with and the browsing speeds that you will be able to achieve

Apple announced with great pomp that his new iPad tablet allows users to surf the Internet at speeds of up to 72 Mbps using 4G LTE technologies, however here I explained why this could be impossible in Romania. Removing 4G from the equation, we are left with DC-HSDPA, HSPA+, HSPA, etc. In practice, in Romania we will be able to surf the Internet from the iPad at speeds up to 42 Mbps, but only on a single mobile phone network because most of them offer browsing speeds of a maximum of 21.6 Mbps and only one offers only 7.2 Mbps.

Below I will discuss each mobile phone operator and the offers you can use with the new iPad tablet.

The Cosmote operator offers its customers the opportunity to surf the Internet at speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps through subscriptions from Connect series. Those from Cosmote say that any of the subscriptions listed on the previously mentioned page can be used with an iPad tablet, and I think that one with included traffic of 8 GB would be more than enough for any tablet owner. Speeds of 21.6 Mbps can be reached in various localities in the country, but of course you must be in the coverage area of the Cosmote operator.

At Orange, things are much more complex because we are talking about the only large mobile operator in Romania that offers DC-HSPA for users. Using the iPad tablet we will be able to surf the Internet at speeds up to 42 Mbps(although orange offers 43.2Mbps, the iPad tablet is limited to 42 Mbps) but these are currently only available in 5 large cities in Romania and in their metropolitan areas. In another 550 towns, Orange offers users speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps for the iPad tablet, so where you don't have DC-HSDPA coverage, you have HSPA+ and surf without problems.

The cheapest Orange subscription that offers DC-HSDPA speeds of 43.2 Mbps is Colibri 15, which costs €15 per month.

RDS is recognized for very high download speeds in the case of fixed connections, but for mobile connections we are talking about the operator with the lowest browsing speed. At the moment the RDS offers its users mobile internet subscriptions with speeds up to 7.2 Mbps, but in most cases the speed is only 3.6 Mbps. Although the speeds are low, at RDS the mobile internet is extremely cheap and for 10 RON a month you get 5 GB of traffic at speeds up to 7.2 Mbps and unlimited traffic at speeds that are so low that it doesn't even matter. The best part is that if you have a fixed internet subscription you can get mobile internet for free, so everything depends on your attitude.

Vodafone it is currently listed by Apple as being the only mobile phone operator in Romania that offers 4G subscriptions for the iPad, but we all know that this is false. Vodafone lists on the website or subscriptions of 21.6 Mbps for internet and mobile terminals, so there is no question of that 4G network that Apple mentions on its website. Using an iPad tablet, you will be able to surf the Internet at speeds of up to 21.6 Mbps throughout the coverage area of the Vodafone mobile operator.

In conclusion, 4G in Romania remains just a dream for now, but the hope is that the iPhone 5 will be compatible with the 4G LTE networks in Europe and implicitly Romania.
