A new version of redsn0w will allow us to downgrade to iOS 5.x for iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3 and restore without iTunes

IERI (Yesterday) I told you that the Dev Team has a new method to downgrade to iOS 5.x using SHSHs and here's how during last evening MuscleNerd he informed us official that the said method will soon be able to be used by the owners of the iPhone 4S terminal and the iPad 2 and iPad 3 tablets. The downgrade procedure only works if you have SHSHs saved for iOS 5.0.1 or 5.1, without them you can do absolutely nothing , so you now have the chance to save an SHSH at least for iOS 5.1.

MuscleNerd stated that his method differs from that of hacker iH8sn0w because it does not use proprietary files of the Apple company, so it is legal. It is not known when exactly we will have the new version of redsn0w available, but as soon as it is published I will let you know. This downgrade method is specially made for the 3 previously mentioned iDevices, and for the rest you can already downgrade with a saved SHSH. Unfortunately, you can't downgrade the baseband following MuscleNerd's method, so don't hope you'll be able to get something like that.

The second very important component of the future version of redsn0w is the possibility to restore without iTunes. If the Dev Team succeeds in implementing this function, then redsn0w will be the first public program that allows us to restore without using Apple's iTunes. Removing iTunes would theoretically allow us to install almost any kind of ipsw we want on our iDevices, but for now I'm interested to see how the Dev Team thought of their system.
