The Dev Team unnecessarily uses an exploit that could be extremely important in the future

IERI (Yesterday) Dev Team released redsn0w 0.9.11 beta 1, a new version of the program that allows us to restore our iDevices without using iTunes. The most important function is related to the possibility to downgrade from iOS 5.1/5.1.1 to iOS 5.0.1/5.1 or restore directly from iOS 5.0.1/5.1 to the same version. The Dev Team used a special exploit for this feature, an exploit that Apple can block in any new version of iOS and I think the Dev Team was wrong to remove it now.

Pod2G confirmed yesterday that it can jailbreak the iPad 3 on iOS 5.1.1 and having this confirmation, basically the option to restore/downgrade to old versions of iOS is useless. I think this exploit would have been much more useful after iOS 5.1.2 or 5.2 was released because it is unlikely that a new jailbreak solution will appear between WWDC 2012 and the release of iOS 6 in the fall. If the Dev Team had published exploits then, users could have used iOS 6 beta and reverted to iOS 5.x, but it is not known if this will be possible.

From my point of view, the Dev Team hastened the launch of this exploit and their way of acting is strange considering that Apple can block the exploit through a simple iOS update.
