MacBook Pro Retina Display – the new resolution selection system and the first screen benchmarks

In one of the rumors published about the MacBook Pro Retina Display, it was said that Apple intends to change the way users choose the resolution of the device, and here is what happened. In the OS X of the new MacBook Pro there are now two resolution selection systems: Best for Retina Display and Scaled. In Scaled only 5 options for choosing the resolution, each of them offering either larger text or more space to see content, the maximum scaled resolution that can be set on the Mac screen is 1920 x 1200. Basically, Apple chose to don't give users the option to set the resolution they want, but give them a simple option that tells them very clearly what they're getting, and that decision could backfire on them over time.

Leaving aside the information regarding the resolution, we move on to the benchmarks made for the screen and you notice that the MacBook Pro with Retina Display ranks in a leading position, never in the first place. Those from Anandtech they made 3 benchmarks, the Pro came in second position in only two of them, in the third coming out in the middle of the ranking. Although Apple offers the only laptop that has such a high resolution, in terms of the images displayed on the screen, Apple does not win over its direct competitors, at least not in benchmarks.

The problem with these benchmarks is that they differ from the results obtained in real life, so the performance of the screen could be better or even worse.
