Apple will shut down the social network Ping

In 2010, Apple launched Ping, a social network that was meant to convince users to buy more music. Then Apple contracted famous artists to promote the network, but unfortunately the company's efforts were not crowned with success, Ping proving to be nothing more than an unwanted extension of iTunes/iOS. Cook stated a few days ago that Ping is not a service that users and company insiders want I support that the future public version of iTunes would be launched without this social network.

We tried Ping, and I think the customer voted and said 'This isn't something that I want to put a lot of energy into.

Apple will focus on partnerships with Twitter and Facebook to promote its music and applications, Ping remaining only a sad memory of a service that should not have reached the market.
