Apple will invest 1 billion dollars in a new data center

After the desecration of the data center in North Carolina on the basis of which the iCloud works, Apple inted to build a similar one in Reno, Nevada. An Apple representative was present at a local council of the area where this data center is to be built, plus other facilities, and it seems that over the course of 10 years, the amount of 1 billion dollars will be invested. Everything would start in August when Apple intends to start the project, and by the end of 2012 everything should be finished and functional.

Today, the Washoe County Board of Commissioners is considering abatements for Apple's planned data center in the Reno Technology Park, located east of Sparks along Interstate 80. Mike Folks, an Apple spokesman, said the company is planning for the project to become operational later this year .

"We're looking at a 30-year relationship," Folks told commissioners.

Project Jonathan is called the real estate project of those from Apple and for now it is not known what this data center will be used for, but probably Apple intends to launch new online services that need a strong infrastructure to function.
