Samsung fails to convince an American court to suspend the ban on the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1

Week Apple has imposed a temporary ban on the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, those from Samsung appealing the decision of a court to grant the American company this right. Yesterday a court judged the appeal of those from Samsung and decided that the temporary sales ban will not be suspended, the Korean company not presenting sufficiently credible arguments to support its case. Although the victory obtained by Apple last week is important, it only affects the reputation of Samsung because the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has not been one of the top products of the Asian company for a long time.

A US judge on Monday rejected a request by Samsung Electronics Co. to lift a ban on US sales of its Galaxy Tab 10.1, another setback for the South Korean firm in its tablet patent battle with iPad maker Apple Inc. Samsung is disappointed with the court's decision that denied our motion to stay. We believe today's ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the US," a Samsung spokeswoman told Reuters. The spokeswoman added that Samsung will continue to pursue a request for an appeal of the preliminary injunction.

Even so, the sales ban imposed by Apple sets a precedent in the US, this being the first time that Apple succeeds in blocking the sales of Samsung products. Apple now has the possibility to block the sales of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus based on a court decision, the company has already submitted the necessary deposit for imposing the temporary sales ban and in the following days we may see the first effects produced by it. Samsung also appealed this decision, it remains to be seen if it will be more successful in supporting its claims in that case.
