iOS 6 – possible release date and compatibility with iDevices

We are fast approaching the presentation and release of iOS 6, and some of you are probably wondering when Apple will dare to release this version of the operating system in iTunes. Assuming that on September 12 Apple will present iOS 6 and on September 21 iPhone 5 will be released in stores, then on September 18/19 iOS 6 should be available in iTunes for all of us. Last year, iOS 5 was released 8 days after its presentation at the Apple conference, and just two days before the launch of the terminal in stores, and this year the operating system could reach users a little faster.

iOS 6 GM will be released by Apple on September 12, but it will only be available to developers of iOS applications, this being the final version of iOS 6 made available to developers to test it and discover possible problems. Regarding compatibility, you can install iOS 6 on the terminals below without problems, but only iPhone 4S/5 and iPad 3 will offer the most functions:

  • iPhone 3Gs;
  • iPhone 4;
  • iPhone 4S;
  • iPhone 5;
  • iPad 2;
  • iPad 3;
  • iPod Touch 4G.
