Apple is shutting down social network Ping from September 30

Ping, a social network for iTunes that was launched exactly 2 years ago, will be closed starting on September 30, with Apple ceasing to allow users to register with it. Ping allowed users of Apple IDs to share their favorite songs through their own accounts, to follow their favorite artists or even their own friends, the main idea being to share their favorite songs and convince other users that they are worth listening to. Unfortunately, the network was not as popular as Apple wanted, and now it will cease to exist.
