Apple releases iOS 5.1 for Apple TV 2G and 3rd gen, includes Shared PhotoStreams, AirPlay broadcasting and several other novelties

  During this evening, the Apple company launched iOS 5.1 for Apple TV 2G si Apple TV 3rd gen, almost a week days away from the release of iOS 6 for the rest of the iDevices. This version of the operating system has the build 10A406e and comes with many new features, the most important being: the possibility to add and manage multiple iTunes accounts, support for Shared Photo Streams and the possibility of streaming audio from Apple TV on other accessories compatible with this standard:

  1. Shared Photo Streams - Accept invitations for Shared Photo Streams, browse photos and comments, and receive notifications of new content.
  2. AirPlay – Send audio content from Apple TV to AirPlay-enabled speakers and devices (including AirPort Express and other Apple TVs). Also includes the ability to require an onscreen code to use AirPlay with your Apple TV.
  3. iTunes account switching – Save multiple iTunes accounts and switch quickly between them.
  4. Trailers – Search movie trailers. In the United States, see show times for local theaters.
  5. Screen savers – New Cascade, Shrinking Tiles, and Sliding Panels screen savers.
  6. Main menu – Reorder icons on the second page by holding down the select button on the remote.
  7. subtitles – SDH support for the deaf and hard-of-hearing as well as improvements to viewing and selecting subtitles.
