iPhone 5 – first impressions, first scratches

As you already know, since Friday I have come into possession of an iPhone 5 terminal which I had the opportunity to use on the day spent on the road from San Francisco and Romania. You have seen enough images and impressions on the internet so far, to these I add mine in the idea that maybe some people will find it interesting and it will be useful to them. iPhone 5 it is only a few millimeters taller than the iPhone 4S and is much thinner, it has a new case, and these are the first things you notice when you lay your eyes on the terminal for the first time, but not the case or the shape of the terminal will amaze you, but its weight. iPhone 5 is so light that you will receive it with one WOW, and when you get your hands on the iPhone 4/4S again, you will have the impression that you are going back in time and you will wonder why it took six generations to reach something like this.

You will quickly get over these feelings when you start using the terminal because the screen and the speed with which you do everything on it are probably the most important memories you will be left with after a first test. iPhone 5 it is fast, it is very fast and in my tests the iPhone 4S did absolutely nothing faster, in fact it was not even equal to it. From native applications to websites, recording photos/movies, opening photos/movies, email attachments and everything else runs faster on the iPhone 5. I thought the transition from iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S was important, but in in this case, the differences are greater and in games like Infinity Blade II, NOVA 3, etc., you will notice them most easily. We must not forget any other applications that will work faster and the difference is noticeable, even notable in certain cases.

Although the 4-inch screen will amaze you with its quality and the higher level of information displayed, unfortunately you will find that the experience is not entirely satisfactory, and this is because of the applications. Although some of the applications in the App Store have been recently updated, although the native ones are compatible with the 4-inch screen, many applications still do not support it and here is the big problem. You will open many apps and be greeted with empty spaces at the top/bottom of the screen, and for me this was disappointing as I was really looking forward to using the larger screen. You will have the impression that something is incomplete and although Apple tried to mask this, for me it was not good enough. Even without a 100% great experience, the 4-inch screen is easy to use with one hand, it won't force you to touch the corners, if you don't have small hands, and I for one am very happy with it.

Regarding connectivity, I can't tell you anything for now because I don't have a nano SIM card, but I'll come back with details during the day. Finally, I will talk a little about a problem ignored by many, but very important, the fragility of the side strips. I don't know how I managed it, but I scratched the iPhone on a side strip and noticed that at one of the joints the black paint is starting to come off. I don't know what exactly Apple paints these terminals with, but it doesn't do it very well and you have to be very careful with them because the strips will scratch easily and many of you will be dissatisfied. If you are afraid of scratches, maybe it would be better to get the white version, on which they may not be seen so well, but if you want an elegant terminal, without 3 sensors on the front, then the black version is the solution.

In the end, I am pleasantly impressed by the iPhone 5, but I will return with more details in a complex review, but during this week I will write about the various functions of the terminal.
