Apple could remove the iPad 2 from sale after the launch of the iPad Mini

Next week Apple would present tablets iPad Mini to the whole world and an American analyst is of opinion that iPad 2 could be withdrawn from sale by the company from Cupertino. He says that Apple's philosophy of not offering many different products, but from the same category, could be the basis for making this decision, but everything would happen after the official launch of the iPad Mini. At the moment the iPad 2 is available for $399 in Apple stores, the iPad Mini could be available for $249, but in several versions, so theoretically the iPad 2 would no longer have a place in Apple's offer.

Apple is bucking industry trends and outperforming its peers by creating its own growth through hardware and software innovation — an aggressive strategy that one analyst believes could lead to Apple phasing out the $400 iPad 2. Rob Cihra with Evercore Partners said in a note to investors this week that he sees Apple phasing out the current iPad 2, because Apple's overall vision calls for "clearer product tiers." The prediction comes as Apple is expected to lower the barrier to entry of its iPad lineup by unveiling a new, smaller iPad next Tuesday.

The iPad Mini could have prices between $249 and over $600, so it also covers the price for which the iPad 2 is available, but we will see more only after the tablet is presented. Even if Apple will not remove the iPad 2 from the market, starting with the iPad 4 it could decide to stop offering the iPad 3 to customers, forcing them to choose between the iPad Mini and the high-end version of the iPad tablet.
