In a few years we will be able to open and start cars using only smartphones

Using smartphones we can perform a lot of tasks that we didn't even imagine were possible a few years ago, and car manufacturers intend to take things further. Those from Hyundai they presented recently the concept of an Android smartphone that has the role of replacing car keys. Using NFC technology, the smartphone connects to the car, opens its doors, starts the engine and controls a good part of the equipment available in that car.

A new Hyundai concept car based on the automaker's global-market i30 hatchback demonstrates the ability to turn a mobile smart phone into a car key capable of entering and starting a car directly. ...the Hyundai Connectivity Concept uses a Near Field Communication – or NFC – tag located on the hatchback's windows to communicate directly with the phone. ...the Hyundai concept essentially integrates the key fob's security chip into a smartphone. Taking things a step even further, the Hyundai system pulls up the user's profile, so settings like audio, climate and phonebook entries are automatically put in place before the driver even pushes the starter button.

Basically, the chip that the manufacturers use in the current keys is integrated into the smartphone, the car recognizing it with the help of NFC and from here you can imagine how everything works. Basically, the idea is to replace the keys with a smartphone that we use daily, and in the car we will also find an induction charging kit, so the smartphone will always be charged, and when it is discharged we will not be able to enter the car , without a spare key.

The idea is interesting, it will definitely be implemented and I for one can't wait to see how everything works.
