Apple was sued in Brazil because the iPad 4 would not represent a significant technological evolution compared to the iPad 3

launching iPad 4 in November of last year, it surprised a lot of people, because Apple interrupted for the first time the one-year release cycle for iPad tablets, updating the tablet line only 6 months after the last product launched in this category. The Institute for Software Policy and Law, in free translation, from Brazil believes that iPad 4 does not represent a significant technological evolution compared to the iPad 3, accusing the Apple company of causing harm to people who purchased the iPad 3 tablet just a few months before.

They claim that Apple planned for the iPad 3 to become obsolete from a physical and moral point of view in 7 months and that Brazilians would have purchased the tablets iPad 3 without being informed by Apple that they are not actually purchasing the iPad 4 tablet. Basically, the Brazilians claim that the name iPad with Retinal displaya is a bad one that can mislead consumers, which is completely true, with users not knowing whether they are buying an iPad 3 or an iPad 4. The Brazilian institute asks Apple to exchange free of charge the iPad 3 tablets bought by Brazilians after the launch of the iPad 4 and to reimburse them 50% from the purchase price. Moreover, in the lawsuit filed against Apple, the Americans are required to pay compensation amounting to 30% of the value of each iPad 3 tablet sold in Brazil.

To be honest, I'm happy with the action of the Brazilians and I think that Apple's strategy for naming iPad tablets is a very bad one, because it can very easily mislead customers. This is probably what Apple thought when they tried to introduce a forced update of the iPad tablet on the market, and for this it would be good to pay.
