Apple is updating the protection system of OS X to block a new type of malware called Yontoo

yontoo is the name of a new type of malware made public the other day by a computer security company, it affects both Windows and OS Xthose from Apple. yontoo affects desktop browsers, displaying ads on almost any website, including Apple's, and the American company he thought to block it by updating the system xprotect of OS X. Apple included the file names of this malware in Xprotect, and now Mac owners should rest easy because they will not be affected by it.

Apple has decided the Yontoo Adware has fallen too far on the side of undesirable behavior, as they have released an update to the XProtect.plist definitions file to provide Mac OS X with basic detection for the Yontoo adware as OSX.AdPlugin.i. In testing, it appears this detection is very specific and potentially location-dependent. This extra specificity is likely there so as to catch only the surreptitious installations of this file.

Apple's Xprotect system also protects Mac owners against existing vulnerabilities in the Java plugin, Apple using it on several occasions to protect users.
