Motorola X could be the first smartphone to use a sapphire panel to protect the screen

Motorola X is the generic name given to a smartphone Motorola which is said to allow users to customize it to their liking. Although this rumor is still unconfirmed, today it was found out however, the device would have a 4.8-inch screen, a 800 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 2 processor, and a 4000 mAh battery. The specifications are impressive, but the use of a sapphire panel is, Motorola apparently intending to give it up Gorilla Glass 3 for the future or terminal.

Week we told you that sapphire front panels could replace the popular Gorilla Glass, and this seems to be happening already, although for now we are talking about a rumor, probably generated by that news. Even so, for Motorola the use of this technology could give it a real advantage on the market, especially since users are always looking for a smartphone that is resistant to shocks/scratches, and the future terminal from Motorola/Google would could offer many exactly what they are looking for.

UPDATED: Vertu Constellation Touc and Vertu TI already have screens of this kind, so the Motorola X could be the first affordable smartphone with a screen protected by a sapphire panel.
