Apple hires engineers for the team that develops sensors capable of reading fingerprints

Last year Apple acquired AuthenTec, a company specialized in software development that not only secures mobile terminals/PCs/laptops, but also develops products used to secure buildings, etc. Of course, fingerprint readers are among them, and in recent months it has been rumored that Apple intends to implement a fingerprint reader in iPhone 5S. To strengthen those rumors was discovered a job offer published by Apple, the company is looking for an engineer to work in the team that develops sensors for fingerprint readers.

LabTool – Develop, maintain, update and optimize the "LabTool" software that is used for lab evaluation and characterization of the Melbourne Design Center sensor ICs. This includes adding new features as specified by the analog and digital design engineers. Updating the tool to work with new sensors. Automating lab tests and characterization. Provide support and debug capability to all groups within Apple that use the tool.

After the acquisition of the company by Apple, it seems that a process was initiated to give up customers who used AuthenTec technology for reading fingerprints, Apple will remain the only entity that will use it in the future. This strategy denotes as clearly as possible that Apple has big plans regarding the implementation of technology in its products, it remains to be seen who will be the first to include it and what exactly we will be able to do with it. It is rumored that using a fingerprint reader we will be able to secure our iDevices and make mobile payments, but for now all this information is just a rumor.
