iPhone 5S could be equipped with a new Omnivision front camera capable of filming in 1080p format

The past days I told you that iPhone 5S it would have a 2 megapixel front camera capable of recording Full HD and allowing us to use a function called dual-shot. Although it was just a rumor at the time, the information could prove to be real thanks to a press release publicat today by Omnivision, the supplier of front cameras for iPhone 5. The company announced the launch of the sensor OmniVision OV2724, a sensor for front cameras that allows recording movies in the format Full HD 1080p and allows recording good photos in low light conditions.

OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: OVTI), a leading developer of advanced digital imaging solutions, launched today its smallest full high-definition (FHD) CameraChip sensor designed for front-facing camera applications in smartphones, tablets and ultrabooks. The new OV2724 delivers high frame rate 1080p/60 HD video with best-in-class sensitivity and dynamic range, and can fit inside a 5 x 5 x 3.5 mm module, making the OV2724 an ideal camera solution for video chat and video conferencing applications on mobile devices.

Considering that this sensor is presented now, a few months before the launch iPhone 5S, it is as clear as possible that the future room of the terminal will contain it. Using it we will be able to make calls FaceTime Full HD, we will be able to use the dual-shot function that Apple will implement and theoretically the world should be much happier.
