Lei Jun – the Steve Jobs of Asia

Lei Jun is the CEO and main shareholder of the company Xiaomi, one of the big and well-known terminal manufacturers Android which are based in China. Lei Jun is known in China and in Asia for the fact that his company "borrowed" the external appearance of iPhone's, but also for the fact that he organizes his conferences by copying his style Steve Jobs. The Chinese is dressed somewhat similar to the former CEO of the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, and the Xiaomi conferences are quite similar to the conferences organized by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for the presentation of some products.

In a country where products like iPhones are made but rarely invented, Lei Jun — entrepreneur, billionaire and professed Jobs acolyte — is positioning himself and his company as figurative heirs of Mr. Jobs. The Chinese media have nicknamed his company, Xiaomi, the "Apple of the East." The title is a stretch, by almost any measure. But Mr. Lei nonetheless is carefully cultivating a Jobsian image here, right down to his jeans and dark shirts. He is also selling millions of mobile phones that look a lot like iPhones. Chinese consumers - and deep-pocketed investors overseas - seem to be believers.

And yet Mr. Lei's greatest believer may be himself. He bounds on the podiums to introduce new cellphones. He proclaims things that may, to many, sound outlandish.

The New York Times they did a profile of the well-known Xiaomi CEO and he stated that his obsession with Steve Jobs began after reading a book during his student years. The obsession motivated him to build one of the biggest companies in China, but copying Steve Jobs' clothing style is probably not such a great idea.
