Apple launches a program through which it offers at a reduced price original chargers for iDevices in exchange for counterfeit ones

Following the incidents that took place in China and Australia and sent people to the hospital after using counterfeit chargers for iDevices, the Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), They've decided to take measures and started a program called USB Power Adapter Takeback Program. Starting from August 9, in China, and August 16 in the rest of the world, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), will offer iDevice owners the opportunity to replace a counterfeit charger with an original one for just $10. All users have to do is go to an Apple Store, or authorized reseller, with the counterfeit iDevice and charger, pay $10 and leave with an original one.

Recent reports have suggested that some counterfeit and third party adapters may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues. While not all third party adapters have an issue, we are announcing a USB Power Adapter Takeback Program to enable customers to acquire properly designed adapters. Customer safety is a top priority at Apple. That's why all of our products — including USB power adapters for iPhone, iPad, and iPod — undergo rigorous testing for safety and reliability and are designed to meet government safety standards around the world.

Apple employees will not be able to check if a charger owned by you is counterfeit or produced by a third company and complies with Apple standards, but the replacement will be made under any conditions. The program initiated by the Apple company runs until October 18, 2013, so there is enough time for anyone who wants to have an original charger that will not electrocute them. To be honest, Apple's idea is extremely good, their original chargers are more expensive anyway, so if you have an old or counterfeit charger, it would be good to visit an Apple reseller and buy another original one.

Starting August 16, 2013, if you have concerns about any of your USB power adapters, you can drop them off at an Apple Retail Store hour at year Apple Authorized Service Provider. We will ensure that these adapters are disposed of in an environmentally friendly way.

If you need a replacement adapter to charge your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, we recommend getting an Apple USB power adapter. For a limited time, you can purchase one Apple USB power adapter at a special price — $10 USD or approximate equivalent in local currency. To qualify, you must turn in at least one USB power adapter and bring your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to an Apple Retail Store or participating Apple Authorized Service Provider for serial number validation. The special pricing on Apple USB power adapters is limited to one adapter for each iPhone, iPad, and iPod you own and is valid until October 18, 2013.
