Apple is testing iPhones with 4.8-6 inch screens, seriously considering their launch

A few months ago, we found out the first serious information that suggested the fact that in China Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), tests iPhones that have screens of at least 4.8 inches, then the prototypes are used only for tests and nothing more. Well in the meantime things they got serious, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), now investigating various strategies for the launch of terminals with large screens, the company testing various devices with various configurations for the market launch. Apple is mainly interested in 4.8 inch screens, ordering a consistent number of components from its Asian partners, but versions with screens up to 6 inches are also being tested.

The electronics giant has begun evaluating a plan to offer iPhones with screens ranging from 4.8 inches to as high as 6 inches, people familiar with the matter say. That would be a sizable leap from the 4-inch screen of the iPhone 5 released last year, and, at the upper end, would be one of the largest on the market. It is unclear whether Apple will ultimately choose to follow a multi-size, multi-device strategy beyond shipping a new lower-cost model for the first time later this month. The company often tests different devices and configurations before choosing a course.

But people familiar with the company's internal deliberations and plans indicate it appears more willing to move ahead than in years past. Component suppliers say Apple already began testing larger screens for iPhones in recent months. Apple has been particularly interested in recent tests for a 4.8-inch screen, these people say.

Tim Cook has repeatedly stated that at the moment Apple is not interested in launching iPhones with large screens because it does not need them, but this does not mean that things will remain the same in the future. Apple constantly has the habit of testing various products before launching them on the market, many of them do not even leave the testing laboratories, so in the case of these iPhones we could be talking about exactly the same thing, Apple acting in a similar way before the release of the first version of the iPad.

For Apple, smartphones with large screens have become a big problem, so in Cupertino it is charged to find solutions for a counterattack on this segment of the market and iPhones with large screens will come to the market. Although Apple has said that iPhones are perfect for one-handed use, the release of a large-screen iPhone could maintain that image, as Apple could find a way to include a larger screen in the current iPhone 5, for example, but it remains to be seen if he will do it.
