Jony Ive designed a unique Leica camera for a charity auction

Last month I told you that Jony Ive initiated a partnership through which he was to conceive the design of a Leica camera, which would be sold in a charity auction. After 85 days of work, here it is today we see the result the collaboration between Jony Ive and the designer Mac Newson, the Leica camera in the images presented in this article being unique. The device was created after testing no less than 561 models and over 1000 component prototypes, so we are talking about an enormous effort for the two designers.

Leica Camera is pleased to present The Leica M for (RED), designed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson. The camera, based off the Leica M, will be auctioned off at Southeby's on November 23rd 2013 to raise money for The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. From a design standpoint, it features a laser machined aluminum body and an anodized aluminum outer shell. A total of 561 models and nearly 1000 prototype parts were made during the 85 days it took to create this unique, one of a kind camera.

The camera has a full-format CMOS sensor, high performance processor and new Leica APO-Summicron –M 50mm f/2 ASPH lens representing the best in photography along with its innovative design.

Leica M is the name of the camera made by the two designers, it has a full-format CMOS sensor, the new 50mm Leica APO-Summicron-m with f/2 aperture and ASPH lenses, so we are talking about a high-performance camera that also has a great design.
