Qualcomm is changing its mind about the benefits of the 7-bit A64 chip

Last week the CMO Qualcomm, Anand Chandrasekher, he was quoted as saying as the new face A7 with the 64-bit architecture brings no real benefits for iPhone 5S, but it's just a marketing move on the part Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. In an email received today from a spokesperson for Qualcomm I found the quote below, in it the people from Qualcomm claim that the statements of the CMO were misinterpreted. They claim that the entire industry of mobile terminals is evolving towards the adoption of 64-bit architecture that will improve user performance and allow new types of applications to run on these devices.

The comments made by Anand Chandrasekher, Qualcomm CMO, about 64-bit computing were inaccurate. The mobile hardware and software ecosystem is already moving in the direction of 64-bit; and, the evolution to 64-bit brings desktop class capabilities and user experiences to mobile, as well as enabling mobile processors and software to run new classes of computing devices.

Qualcomm is one of Apple's main partners, its modems being used in iDevices, and last week's statements surprised a lot of people, probably even some of those in charge of Apple. Considering the relations between the two companies and, probably, the fact that even Qualcomm will implement the 64-bit architecture in its processors, updating the company's opinion regarding the A7 chip is logical and can only prove to us once again that this technology is the future.
