During today's day, the mobile phone operator Cosmote Romania announced the expansion of 4G coverage for 90% of Bucharest, launching the service on mobile phones as well. Apart from the capital, Cosmote has also extended coverage in the following locations: Otopeni, Ploieşti, Cluj, Iaşi, Sinaia, Buşteni and Predeal, the 4G network being active in those areas for several months.

COSMOTE Romania expands 4G coverage in Bucharest, offering the service also on mobile phones
Bucharest, October 9, 2013COSMOTE Romania continues its expansion of the 4G network covering, starting this month, 90% of the Capital, along with Otopeni, Ploieşti, Cluj, Iaşi, Sinaia, Buşteni and Predeal, and introducing in the portfolio, along with modems, mobile phones that allow 4G access . The fourth generation network allows download speeds of up to 75 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 37,5 Mbps.
"4G brings fast speeds and reliability to a world in constant motion, where consumers expect more than just browsing the Internet from their mobile devices. People are connected with friends through OTT services, through Facebook or other social networks and access more video content. All these services are big consumers of data - which is why 4G is absolutely necessary, and we will continue its development in urban and suburban areas", said Bob Konstantinidis, CTO COSMOTE Romania and Romtelecom.
Customers who choose the COSMOTE Free L tariff plan will benefit from free 4G access, by activating the extra option Connect Extension+, free for those who opt for a 4G compatible terminal.
Customers who choose any other tariff plan compatible with 4G will benefit upon request from the activation of the extra option Connect Extension+, for a monthly fee of 5 euros (VAT included). Activation will be done in any of the COSMOTE and Germanos stores, as it requires a dedicated 4G SIM card. Replacing the SIM card is free.
Customers who want to surf at 4G speeds on mobile phones can choose between HTC One 32 GB (1.099 RON, VAT included), Sony Xperia Z (1.669 RON, VAT included), Samsung S4 mini (699 RON, VAT included), Samsung Galaxy S4 (1.199 RON, VAT included) and Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (919 RON, VAT included), from COSMOTE stores, together with the COSMOTE Free L subscription, concluded for a period of 2 years. Also, as was communicated in April of this year, 4G services are available through two modems, Huawei E3276 and ZTE MF823 at 99 lei, respectively through the Samsung Galaxy Note LTE 10.1 tablet at 1.424 RON (VAT included) with the Connect Unlimited+ 30 subscription for a duration of 2 years.
In line with the strategy to gradually develop the broadband network in terms of data speed, COSMOTE Romania also offers the best 3G data network with download speeds of up to 43,2 Mbps for mobile Internet in 194 cities and over 2.500 of localities in Romania, covering 60% of the population. In addition, customers can enjoy speeds of up to 21,6 Mbps HSPA+ in 228 cities in the country. In total, 3G services cover 76% of the Romanian population.
