Vodafone Romania is preparing the launch of a mobile payment service

Vodafone Romania, the second mobile phone operator on the local market, prepares to launch a money transfer and mobile payment system, similar systems being available in other countries around the world. CFO of Vodafone Romania, Till Streichert, declared that during the next year a mobile payment solution will be launched in our country, it will be called M-Pesa and is already available in 8 other countries around the world where the operator is present. In other countries, the system allows users to transfer money to any seller/bank account only through M-Pesa accounts that must be previously funded by users.

Although it will also work through dedicated applications for mobile terminals, the system can be used without them, but considering that it must contain money deposited by users, it remains to be seen how many will consider it to be really useful. For now, absolutely nothing is known about a specific date for the launch of this service, but it will most likely have dedicated applications for the main platforms. In Romania, Orange allows money transfers through the Moneygram system, but we are not talking about the possibility of using mobile applications to make payments or transfer money.
