A bug in iWork and Aperture allows users to obtain paid licenses for free

Although the suite iWork is offered free of charge to new iDevice/Mac owners, old Mac owners can only purchase the suite, but initially they can use it for free for 30 days. Those who did this recently had the opportunity to upgrade for free to the full version of the suite thanks to a bug present in the App Store, more precisely in the system that identifies all copies already paid for. Problem is based on iWork versions sold directly in Apple stores on CD/DVD/USB sticks, these being recognized by Mac App Store as paid versions, users being able to benefit from the complete applications for free.

Since the Mac App Store now detects boxed copies of iWork and allows them to be updated to the Mac App Store version, it seems the trial versions of Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are perceived by the App Store as being a fully purchased copy. This allows users to install yesterday's updated apps without having to pay anything.

The problem also affects Apple's Aperture application and there is a possibility that it will not be solved, because the company would have no way to differentiate between these products. Regardless of whether or not Apple has a method to solve the problem, if you are included in the category of those who have taken over the iWork suite or the Aperture application in a physical package from an Apple store, it would be good to benefit from this now bug and install the full version for free.
