As you probably already know, I took possession of it last Friday Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy Gear thanks to the people from Orange Romania and the program Orange Smartphone Tester. This week I played with both devices and this article aims to detail my first impression of both terminals, a mini review to be published in the next period, after a bit more accommodation with them and a somewhat more detailed testing of the functions that are available to us.
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
I'll tell you from the start that this terminal is much too big to be used with one hand and much too big for my tastes, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be suitable for you. The device runs the latest version of Android OS released by Google and modified by Samsung, and overall it is very fast, having rare moments when it hangs easily when opening applications or loading web pages, and this in the conditions where inside it is a quad-core processor.
Most of the tasks I undertook through the terminal were carried out very quickly, the games work smoothly, and watching videos is a real pleasure on such a large screen. Of course, in conditions of strong brightness the screen is difficult to use because the information is almost impossible to see, but the good part is that for multimedia tasks it is great and I have to admit that the idea of dividing the screen for the use of applications seems to me extraordinarily good.
Camera Samsung Galaxy Note 3 it records very good photos and videos, even in low light conditions, and if you play with all its settings you can get extremely good results without much effort. Regarding connectivity, I can say that internet browsing speeds depend on your operator, the 4G from Orange offering approximately 40-50 Mbps as the maximum download speed and between 20-30 Mbps for the upload speed.
Concluding this chapter I will talk about the most important aspect of any smartphone, battery life. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 it is equipped with a 3200 mAh battery, but with its 5.7-inch screen, it proves to be insufficient to support more than a few hours of use, and this in conditions where the brightness is not set to a maximum value. Using the terminal for any kind of tasks that involve connecting to the Internet, you will notice that the battery discharges quite quickly, a full day of use being quite difficult to achieve under conditions of intense use.
Samsung Galaxy Gear
Samsung Galaxy Gear is the newest smartwatch launched by the Samsung company, but it is not the first device of this kind launched by the Koreans. Through him you can get from Samsung Galaxy Note 3: notifications about received messages/emails, you can answer/reject calls, initiate calls or send messages, use a pedometer for fitness, record photos, write voice memos, control the smartphone's multimedia functions, use S Voice to give voice commands, you can view information about the weather, and with the help of various applications you can expand the functionality.
Regarding the design, I will tell you that the device does not excel, and its rubber strap does not give the impression of a premium device, even if the smartwatch has a price of $300. Moving on to the battery, I will tell you that you will have to charge it approximately once every two days if you keep it constantly connected to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, it comes with a special case for charging. From the battery we get to the camera, which is located on the belt and records video clips (only 15 seconds) and decent photos, their quality being comparable to that of a front camera of a smartphone.
As a total opinion about the device, I can tell you that I like it, I would have liked to be able to connect it to the iPhone, but unfortunately this is not possible for now and it is not known if it will ever be possible.
