An iPad Air tablet explodes in a store, firefighters are called to avoid a fire

Launched exactly a week ago on the market, the tablet iPad Air has a first incident, a unit catching fire in a Vodafone store in Australia. It looks like a tablet iPad Air placed for testing in a Vodafone store, it overheated, then it started to emit smoke and sparks from the Lightning port area, the Vodafone store was evacuated and the fire department was called to extinguish the tablet. In the image you can see what is left of the device and it is as clear as possible that the battery is to blame.

A brand new iPad Air exploded in flames in an Australian mobile phone store. The explosion and fire were so severe that the fire brigade had to be called in to fight the smoke and sparks that were continuing to burst out of the device. A Vodafone spokesperson said a 'burst of flames' appeared from the charging port of the brand new iPad Retina demonstration model, Sydney's Daily Telegraph reported. As the store filled with smoke, firemen rushed to the store and put out the fire.

Although those from Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), they did not comment on the incident, this is not the first time that a product Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is involved in such an incident. The frequency with which these incidents happen lately suggests that Apple made a mistake somewhere in the choice of battery suppliers, and considering that we are talking about a new product, the problem is even bigger. Apple has implemented in iPad Air a new lower capacity battery and despite this accident, the chances of something similar happening to you are extremely low.

IIn the past months, many people were electrocuted by counterfeit chargers for iPhone terminals, so we're talking about freak accidents involving iDevices.
